Following on from the Porsche Boxer, the Cayman drives exceptioonally well and we can’t think of a rival that comes close. It’s more charismatic than most other four-cylinder turbos, and we’re in no doubt it’s quicker than the previous Boxer.
Really concentrate on each element though, and the Cayman does come to life. You realise the brakes are astonishing, that the chassis is fully loaded with talent and ability. It’s a delight around corners, really adjustable and composed.
Inside, the Cayman is hard to fault. Updates are mostly confined to a new flush-fitting infotainment screen, a vast improvement in itself, but the driving position is still low and snug, and the controls are just where you want them and operate with an easy, fluent precision.
It’s easy to see out of, easy to place on the road, it’s compact and well packaged. The Cayman is a drivers delight!
